Story Wear X Sleepy Tofu / Fashion meets Softness – Upcycled Design

Sleepy Tofu specializes in comfort-focused, aesthetically refined mattresses and home products, crafted from eco-friendly materials like memory foam and recyclable padding. Their innovative structure and upgraded designs enhance both resilience and visual appeal, while the use of high-quality natural cotton covers highlights the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Sleepy Tofu also pioneers upcycling by transforming manufacturing remnants into practical accessories such as laptop sleeves and floor mats, using artisanal denim patchwork and hand-stitching—setting a benchmark for circular design and sustainable craftsmanship.

The partnership between Story Wear and Sleepy Tofu is driven by a shared commitment to circular sustainability and responsible fashion. Story Wear makes use of 100% surplus fabrics and upcycled denim, combining them with deconstructed mattress materials from Sleepy Tofu to create unique hybrid pieces that reflect local Taiwanese warmth and layered textures through artisanal, hands-on production. This collaboration represents both brands’ dedication to zero-waste practices and offers a new perspective on modular, Taiwan-inspired fashion—advocating a lifestyle in which environmental stewardship and modern style complement one another.

/ What are you most looking forward to about accepting this invitation to Tokyo Fashion Week?

I knew about Tokyo Fashion Week when I was working as a model in Japan. At that time, I was mostly doing advertising work, so I never had the opportunity to participate in Tokyo Fashion Week. But I think every model has thought that if they have the opportunity to participate in Fashion Week, they must. Moreover, being invited by a brand you like and walking the runway in your birth country is impossible to refuse. I also want to let the Japanese know that Taiwanese people have a more diverse approach to sustainability than the Japanese. I also want to let the Japanese know that Story Wear is not only sustainable, but also helps women re-entering the workforce and vulnerable groups.

/ This time in Tokyo, do you have any thoughts or beliefs that you hope to convey through the fashion show?

I think the Japanese impression of Taiwan is of food, Taipei 101, Dihua Street, and other tourist industries. But this time I want the Japanese to know that in Taiwan, a country smaller than Kyushu, Japan, many people care about sustainability. Compared to Japan, there is not much support, but spiritually, Taiwan is more enthusiastic about sustainability than Japan. This spirit will definitely not lose to Japan!

When I was in Japan, I was also a model. Of course, I usually practice walking the runway at my agency, but there are really few opportunities to walk on stage because I'm only 180cm tall. But now I have some experience in Taiwan, so I was invited. I agreed instantly when the brand designer invited me. I'm very happy and honored, and I also like dressing up. This is my first time participating in such a large fashion week in Japan, and I'm looking forward to seeing other models and other brands' clothes.

/ This time you've come to Tokyo, do you have any thoughts or beliefs that you hope to convey through the fashion show?

I met the brand designer when I was being interviewed for StoryWear on a program in Taiwan. At that time, I thought the brand's concept was super cool. Everyone needs clothes, but at the same time, it definitely has some impact on the earth. StoryWear is a zero-waste fashion brand that loves the earth and is fashionable. It's really not easy! I hope more people know how amazing and great StoryWear is. As for me personally, if I want to be something or want to do something, then don't think, just act! Just remember what you want to become!

Stylish Senior Lin Chin Fu

Runway guest

Fashionable Senior, Advocate for Successful Aging

Originally a renowned obstetrician and gynecologist, after retirement, he dedicated himself to community revitalization, local creation, and promoting the "Three Pillars of Successful Aging" (brainpower, physical strength, and social engagement), leading by example to encourage the elderly to bravely pursue their dreams and live healthy, confident lives.

At the age of 74, he walked the runway at New York Fashion Week and was subsequently invited to London Fashion Week, showcasing a new paradigm of graceful aging as the oldest model, promoting the idea that "fashion is an attitude."

He has repeatedly worn Story Wear sustainable fashion, and praised the Taiwanese zero-waste, recycling benchmark brand, actively supporting circular design and extending the life cycle of clothing.

/ What are you most looking forward to about accepting the invitation to Tokyo Fashion Week this time?

The reason I accepted the opportunity to walk on the runway at Tokyo Fashion Week is that I see it as a way to maintain both posture and vitality. For me, the runway is not just a brief appearance—it is a bridge that connects generations. When my granddaughter was in elementary school, she walked the runway at the Yuanshan Expo Dome in Taipei. Now she is studying in Japan, and I look forward to having her watch this show in Tokyo. I even hope that in November, at the upcoming Da Dao Cheng show, we might share the stage together. Beyond being a personal challenge, this experience is also about inspiring the next generation to embrace their passion for fashion and clothing design.

/ This time you've come to Tokyo, do you have any thoughts or beliefs that you hope to convey through the fashion show?

Through Tokyo Fashion Week, I hope to showcase the beauty of Taiwan—both in design and in the powerful human stories behind it. The idea of “Graceful Ageing,” which I advocate, is part of this cultural dialogue between Taiwan and Japan. After the post-war baby boom, both societies worked hard to build their industries; now, as that generation enters the later stages of life, they deserve to live with elegance and dignity. I deeply admire Story Wear’s creations. By transforming recycled fabrics into layered patchwork designs, the brand combines sophistication, comfort, and international style. Wearing these pieces is both striking and inspiring, revealing a unique strength and beauty from Taiwan.
