For the 2025 City God Birthday Festival, Xia-hai City God Temple has partnered with Story Wear and Kaien Bespoke Tailoring to create a brand-new divine garment tailored for the City God.
The design is inspired by the theme of “navigation,” blending the fluidity of ocean waves, the guiding power of a compass, and the structured elegance of a suit. Together, these elements symbolize a righteous guardian who journeys through time, protecting the city and its people.
This edition is a finely crafted replica of the City God’s own suit, made with premium Kaien Suit fabrics and recycled materials. Each stitch reflects the fearless spirit of crossing the seas, while every thread carries a commitment to sustainability—embodying the belief that “Kindness Wins.”
Selected plain fabric as the base, decorated with hand-embroidered pinstripes.
The minimalist surface, enriched with rhythmic lines, delivers quiet strength with refined presence.
The red embroidered characters on the front of the suit come from recycled red yarn donated by a knitting factory.
The amulet and blessings are entirely hand-sewn with meticulous back-stitching techniques, praying for hundreds of blessings for Taiwan and the world.
Using a gray functional fabric donated by a local fabric factory, the compass is stacked with applique and silver thread hand embroidery, pointing out the direction for lost people, symbolizing spiritual direction, offering hope and clarity to those who have lost their way.
▎Gentleness of the Waves
The depth of the ocean is conveyed through blue printed fabric made from recycled PET yarn. Each wave is brought to life with intricate hand-stitching and embroidery, layering the motion of the churning sea. Scattered across the waves are handmade fabric beads—strips cut from surplus fabric and carefully rolled by hand. Each bead represents a small but genuine act of kindness within the city, quietly stirring ripples of hope.
The amulet is hidden in the inner pocket of the chest, symbolizing protection that is always with you. Removable and washable, it combines practicality and faith. The outer packaging uses a reusable wrapping cloth, which is not only an extension of the sustainable spirit but can also be used as a scarf, tote bag, or personal storage wrap, carrying blessings wherever you go.
Each piece is a modern armor dedicated to guardians, wearing blessings on the body and living faith into life.
Founded in 1856, Xia-hai City God Temple is located in Dadaocheng, Taipei, and has long served as a vital spiritual center for the local community. The temple is dedicated primarily to the City God, a guardian of justice between the realms of the living and the dead, who protects the people and wards off evil.
The City God’s birthday is celebrated annually on the 14th day of the fifth lunar month, marked by one of Taipei’s most vibrant folk festivals. On the eve of the birthday, a grand parade and ritual procession take place, drawing thousands of participants in celebration and gratitude. This cherished tradition preserves both deep-rooted cultural memory and communal faith.
The temple is also renowned for enshrining the Matchmaker God (Yue Lao), regarded as one of the most trusted and spiritually responsive in all of Taipei.
Located in Dadaocheng, Taipei, Kaien Bespoke Tailoring has a history of over 30 years. The brand began by specializing in custom-made uniforms and, in response to market changes, gradually transitioned to focus on handcrafted bespoke suits.

Denim fabric uses environmentally friendly natural plant dyes, which are prone to dyeing and fading. It's normal for the color to fade after washing. Therefore, items from different periods will display unique colors due to differences in individual washing methods and wearing habits.
1. Avoid wearing with white clothing to prevent dye transfer from the denim fabric.
2. If the garment has spliced white fabric, slight staining of the white part may occur due to prolonged wear or friction with the dark denim part, which is a normal phenomenon.
▎ Washing Precautions
1. The fabric may have a slight color fade due to the natural dye characteristics. White clothing should be washed separately to avoid dye transfer.
2. For the first wash, please hand wash in cold water or use a laundry bag and select a gentle cycle.
3. Do not bleach, dry, or iron. Keep it away from high temperatures and fire.
4. If the garment contains spliced white fabric, have it dry-cleaned by a professional cleaner to ensure the integrity and color of the fabric.
1. Avoid using bleach or strong detergents to protect the color and texture of the fabric.
2. Avoid strong or prolonged exposure to light to prevent damage to the color and cotton fibers.
3. The white part can be cleaned regularly with a special stain remover to maintain its brightness and whiteness.
4. Do not put sharp objects directly into the pockets to avoid puncturing or scratching the product.
5. Denim fabric may transfer color or stain other contacting items or clothing due to rain, sweat, or friction. Please be aware of usage.
